Tarot is many things to many people. For me, it is like a pen in that it can be used to write a love letter or it can be used to write a nasty letter or anything in between. It comes down to the intention of the user.
When I use tarot, I ask for the White Light of God’s Love to surround me as I shuffle my deck of cards. I believe the energy I then work with is Love and when I draw the cards, I ask for that Love to guide me in forming my interpretation and understanding of the cards and the messages that they hold.
The deck of 78 cards I use are called the Rider Waite Tarot Deck. There are hundreds of types of decks available, many with stunning imagery. Rider Waite was developed in 1909 by Englishman, Arthur Edward Waite, who worked with a young artist called Pamela Colman Smith.
The reason I chose these cards is because the imagery is clear, simple and inviting. Each card tells a story that in truth changes each time I read that card.
